| DESCRIPTION . Beano is the ancestor of the popular game of Bingo. The change of name was quite accidental and amusing, because during one of the games in Atlanta, one of the players won and shouted “Bingo!”, raising a bout of laughter. Of course, people afterwards thought that bingo had a better ring to it, and the game rose in popularity under this new name. . As this went on, a toy company owned by Edward Lowe adopted and licensed the game. He started selling card sets in the 1930s especially for bingo, which made it even more popular. |
